The first Sharrock, Sherrock, Shorrock, or Shurrock to arrive in Australia was probably Joseph Sharrock, but at least his

family certainly were. They arrived on the 5th of July 1848, at Port Phillip on a ship called Mahomed Shah, having sailed

       from Plymouth, England.

The Passenger List has Joseph Sharrock 33, his wife Mary 35, five children, John 13, James 10, Joseph 7, Benjamin 5.,

and unknown female baby who was born during the 98 day voyage on the 22nd April 1848. The baby was later baptised

as Elizabeth. The family were from Northampton, England.
